Dr. James Bennett, a 1990 Cardinal Gibbons High School graduate received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina. He then received his D.M.D. Degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. His residency in Pediatric Dentistry was completed at the University of Texas Health Science Center-Houston in Houston, Texas in 2000.
Dr. Bennett has received many awards, including a Certificate of Merit from the American Society of Dentistry for Children and the Graduate Student Research Award from the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Bennett is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a member of the American and Florida Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association and the American Orthodontic Society.
Dr. Bennett presently lives in Pompano Beach with his wife Mindy, an elementary school teacher and their twins, Lorelei and Jonah.
Dr. Melanie Rothberg is originally from South Florida and graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in 1999. She then attended Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine where she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2006. She completed a General Practice Residency at New York Medical College and completed her Pediatric Dental Residency at Albert Einstein Jacobi Medical Center where she served as Chief Resident. She is board certified in Pediatric Dentistry and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Melanie enjoys spending time with her husband, Lee, and her son, Jordan. She especially enjoys watching the University of Florida Gator football team. Go Gators!
Dr. Ira Rothstein, aka "Dr.R," was also born and raised in South Florida, where he attended Pine Crest school. After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from Emory University, he went on to receive his D.M.D degree, Certificate in Orthodontics, and Master of Science degree from Nova Southeastern University's College of Dental Medicine. During his time and NSU, Dr. R was admitted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. Becoming partners with Dr. Peter Wohlgemuth "Dr.W" in Smiles by Dr.W and Dr.R and being able to provide care in the community he grew up is a dream come true!
Dr.R is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Florida Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, DEAL component of the Seattle Study Club, Spear Study Club, ITI study Club, and the Pinnacle Study club.
Dr.R and his wife Lindy live in the area with their son Oliver, and look forward to seeing you at the office and around town. We know that together we will make this the best orthodontic experience possible!
